Tell us what you need
Before you order axle components
A few things to check so the part fits the first time, or just tell us what you’ve got and the parts team will spec it with you.
- Match the capacity
- Axles are rated 3.5k, 6k, 7k, and up. Match your trailer’s GVWR. Never under-spec.
- Measure hub-to-hub
- For a full axle, measure hub-face to hub-face and spring-center to spring-center. That’s what determines fit.
- Read the spindle number
- Hubs, bearings, and seals are keyed to a spindle/bearing number (e.g. L68149, 25580). Read it off the old part.
- Braked or idler
- Tell us whether the axle is braked or idler. It changes the hub, backing plate, and flange.

Axle Components FAQ
- How do I identify my trailer axle?
- Start with the capacity sticker or stamp on the axle tube (most are 3,500, 5,200, 6,000, or 7,000 lb). Then take two measurements: hub face to hub face (the overall width) and spring seat center to spring seat center. With those three numbers — plus whether it's a straight or drop axle — the parts counter can match a replacement.
- What bearings do I need for my hubs?
- Bearing sizes are set by the spindle, not the trailer brand. If you have the old bearings, the number etched on each race identifies them. Otherwise, measure the spindle diameters where the inner and outer bearings ride, or just bring the old bearing and seal to the counter and we'll match the set.
- What's the difference between an idler hub and a brake hub?
- An idler hub is a plain hub for axles without brakes. A brake hub (or hub/drum) has a machined drum surface that the brake shoes press against. If your axle has electric or hydraulic brakes, you need brake hubs; if not, idlers. They're not interchangeable, so check whether there's a brake assembly behind the wheel before ordering.
